Well not much has happened this week. It is about the same routine everyday. The work in the office and the Villa are going great. We are under budget and Teresa is still waiting on her papers to get married so she will probably be baptized this next month (if she actually decides to marry him, she has had some doubts recently about her future husband). Being district leader has been good. Definitely has its advantages and disadvantages like going to sleep a little later because I have to make calls every night and check up on my district and plan District councils. However this last Thursday I was able to conduct a baptismal interview for an investigator of the sisters in my district. That was a really cool experience. I never thought I would be interviewing people to be baptized. I learned how important the Holy Ghost is to help discern the needs of the person and if they have truly repented. The investigator did not pass even though I know he has truly repented. He did not have a testimony of Joseph Smith, he works every Sunday so is not keeping the Sabbath day holy, and did not have a strong desire to be baptized. He was doing it more to make his wife (who is recent convert) happy. Felt kind of bad telling him he could not be baptized but I made goals with him to help him continue progressing. However I know it is better that he does not get baptized because he is not ready than make covenants with God and fall away.
This morning we were invited over to a members house in Montùfar again for crepes and they were so good! I think the first Panda Express in Guatemala opened up in Oakland mall this last weekend and we are planning on eating there today for lunch if everything goes as planned. Man how I have missed Panda, Chipotle, and just good food in general. I am healthy for the most part (though I have diarrhea or as they call it here boo), I am having the best day of my life, and I am enjoying every moment. I have not regretted for one moment serving a mission as it is changing my life. I know it is the best decision I have made and encourage all young men and young women to serve a mission (especially you Luke!). https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2015-01-009-good-to-be-alive?lang=eng -- Having the best day of his life, Elder Gruber
