This week...
- Had interviews this week. That was all good and more than anything just talking and seeing how everything is going. It is always great though because Sister Caffaro always brings home made brownies and these ones had fudge on the top with chocolate chips! THEY WERE DELICIOUS!!!! Best part of my week ;) man I miss baked goods. - Also had a world wide training this week for missionaries. We went to a stake center and watched the broadcast live from Utah. It was all in Spanish so that required a lot of focus and towards the end I just had a headache and felt like I just sat through finals. It was rough to go out and work after that, but at least I did understand just about all of it. - This week I also did something crazy and it is all dads fault. Since dad always taught me to try everything at least once, how could I say no? This week for lunch I was asked if I wanted to try chicken heart. All I could think was dads words ringing in my head, "You have to try it at least once and if you do not like it, at least you know, and you do not have to eat it again." So with that going through my head I hesitantly said yes and they placed the heart of the chicken on my plate. Just from looks it did not look horrible, but it sure did not look good. It was about the size of 1.5 chicken nuggets. As I built up the courage and drank my courage juice (thanks Luke) I courageously bit in and held back the puking reaction that followed. It was gross! More than anything it tasted like cow liver but 2X. I had to hold back spitting it out. I quickly realized I did not drink enough courage juice so I drank a bit more before eating the rest of the heart. The heart had two parts. It had some meat in the middle and the other part was the aorta/valves/whatever other thing the heart is made of. The meat part is what tasted like liver and the aorta was kinda like chewy pasta (the kind that is hollow in the middle). The meat part was the nasty part and the aorta part was not the worst. All in all thanks dad, I can now say I have eaten the heart of the chicken, but have no plans to do it again. - It has also turned into sweater weather here as it has dropped in temp, has been windy, and I guess a part of it (as dad would put it again) I have gotten weak. Lastly, spiritual thought: This weeks topic is prayer - 3 Nephi 18:18-22. Never forget the importance of prayer and do not ever forget to prayer. Prayer is one of the most important things. do not just say a personal prayer but pray in the families as well. It is so important and the family will be strengthened SO much! I also offer the challenge to pray always! When you first wake up and before you go to bed. Before each meal too, even if you are at school, work, or a restaurant. Do not just say a quick little prayer in your heart but say it with all your heart. Fold your arms, bow your head, and close your eyes. be a light to the world and set the example. Mathew 5:14-16 -- Having the best day of his life, Elder Gruber
